What It Is
SPPID (SmartPlant P&ID) is an intelligent piping and instrumentation design system that goes beyond traditional 2D drawings. It produces data-driven P&IDs where every line, tag, and instrument carries structured engineering information, drawn from a shared project database and specification-driven symbol catalog.
At Lilly Engineering Solutions, we develop accurate, consistent, reports-ready P&IDs that support engineering, construction, and operations whether the project database lives on our systems or yours.
Our Delivery Model
Two ways to work: on our system, or on yours.
Standard Delivery: you send us your scope, line list, and P&ID index. Our engineers complete the drawings on our own SPPID environment, run them through internal review, and deliver finished, review-ready files back to you no access to your systems required.
Idle-Hours Delivery: for clients who'd rather the project database never leaves their own network, we securely access your workstation during the hours your SPPID license already sits idle evenings, nights, off-shift windows and complete the work directly inside your own environment, under your own standards.
Both paths follow the same quality process: drawing, internal check, interdisciplinary review, and issue with a clear revision status so the deliverable quality doesn't change, only where the work happens.
What You Get
Intelligent, data-rich P&ID drawings, checked and issued with clear revision control
Consistent tag management across the project
Reduced design errors and rework
Drawings aligned with client and industry standards
Clean, well-structured databases ready for downstream tools
Support for both greenfield and brownfield projects
Your choice of delivery path no forced trade-off between cost and system access
When to Bring Us In
You should engage us when:
You are starting a new plant or expansion project
Existing P&IDs need migration to SPPID
Brownfield projects require as-built updates
Your SPPID license sits idle outside working hours and you want to put it to use
EPC or owner teams need additional engineering bandwidth without adding license seats or headcount
Why It Works
Our SPPID approach works because we combine:
Strong understanding of plant design standards
A structured quality process including a second-person check on every drawing
Flexible delivery: our systems for a fast, low-friction start, or yours for maximum data control
Clear communication and transmittal practices familiar to any engineering office
Let's Get You Unstuck
If P&ID inconsistencies, outdated drawings, or a growing backlog are slowing your project down, we can help on our systems or yours.
